„14 – Tagebücher des Ersten Weltkriegs“
(14 – Diaries of the Great War)

To develop a new documentary format with a transnational perspective on the outbreak and events of the First World War, to be broadcast for the first time together by all those nations which participated in the war as enemies one hundred years ago.

FORTIMA co-founder Jan Peter developed a new historical format for the documentary drama series. The history of the four years between 1914 and 1918 is narrated with the techniques of a modern TV show, using the life trajectories of real individuals from eight countries. Elaborate fiction scenes are inextricably intertwined with archival material.

„14-Diaries of the Great War“ was broadcast in over 40 countries. „14“ was the first German series to be shown on Netflix in the USA and was included in BBC 2’s prime time programming schedule. The eight-part series has been nominated for, and received numerous international awards.
